Dr. Amy E. Leonard is an associate professor of history at Georgetown University specializing in early modern European history. Her teaching has received multiple awards and includes classes on women and gender in early modern Europe, the Reformations in Europe, the witch persecutions, and the Holy Roman Empire. She earned her BA from Barnard College; an MA from the University of Wisconsin at Madison; and a PhD from the University of California at Berkeley. Amy is the author and editor of several books, including Nails in the Wall: Catholic Nuns in Reformation Germany and the edited collection Embodiment, Identity, and Gender in the Early Modern Age with David M. Whitford. She is currently writing a book on the history and reformation of virginity. She has taught for the Smithsonian Associates Program and gives frequent talks around Washington, D.C. for Profs and Pints.
