Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

The world’s most celebrated train, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express carries passengers in the style of a former era. Journey across Europe aboard the restored and opulent vintage 1920’s and 1930’s carriages. Experience the golden age of travel during the trip of a lifetime.

There is a piano bar where travelers can relax throughout the day and enjoy one of their specialty cocktails. There are three elegantly decorated restaurant cars, all serving the same fine cuisine. Smithsonian travelers will be seated together for lunch and dinner. Breakfast and tea are served to the individual cabins by your cabin steward.

Most carriages have nine cabins and one restroom at the end of each carriage. Twin cabins have an upper and lower bed. During the day, cabins are set with the lower bed made into a sofa. There are no showers on board. Inside your cabin, draw back the oak panels to reveal the washbasin with hot and cold water, towels, soap, a dual voltage plug, 230/115 volts for electric razors and two 220-volt European two-pin sockets. For travel hair appliances, the maximum wattage available for their use is 1000 watts. Robes are available in your cabin for use on board along with complimentary slippers. Robes may also be purchased at the Boutique. Beside the door of each cabin are switches for the main cabin light, bedside lights and a call button for your steward.
