Extend your stay in Rio de Janeiro to experience the energy and sights of this great city and the surrounding area. While it is no longer the nation’s capital, Rio remains Brazil’s beating heart. Enjoy accommodations at the deluxe Hotel Copacabana Palace as you explore the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa with its cafés and galleries, and Chácara do Céu, the former modernist residence of industrialist and art patron Raymundo Ottoni de Castro Maya. Meet with a local NGO that organizes music projects for the city’s youth. Outside of Rio, view the important folk art collection at Casa do Pontal and the residence and gardens of Brazil’s most famous landscape architect, Roberto Burle Marx.
