Renee Gondek

Renee Gondek is an art historian specializing in the visual culture of ancient Greece and Rome. In addition to her affiliation with the University of Virginia, where she is a Steering Committee Member of a digital humanities project for ancient pottery (Kerameikos.org), Renee is also a Visiting Scholar at George Washington University and a researcher at the Center for Hellenic Studies of Harvard University. She received her Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Virginia's Classical Art and Archaeology program in 2013 and is currently working on her book manuscript for Cambridge University Press ("Athenian Wedding Imagery in Archaic and Classical Greek Vase-Painting"). Apart from offering courses with the Smithsonian Associates and at several universities (University of Virginia, James Madison University, George Washington University), Renee has taught undergraduate students abroad for Semester at Sea and has acted as a docent for Context Travel in Athens, Greece.
