Paul Tegmeyer

Paul Tegmeyer received his B.A. in Art History from New Mexico State University; his M.A. from Temple University; and is presently completing his dissertation on The Judgment of Raphael for a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.  He has taught in the Department of Art History at Rome's John Cabot University since 1991 and teaches at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies.  He lives in L'Aquila with his Italian wife and daughter. 

Paul’s lively interdisciplinary teaching style immerses guests in the art and history of Rome, while his intimate knowledge of this fascinating city, from the perspective of a resident, offers further insight. A popular Smithsonian Journeys Expert, Paul has led Smithsonian groups in Rome since 1998.
