  • Throughout this tour, travel in the company of an exceptional Smithsonian Study Leader. David Wimpfheimer is a biologist and professional naturalist who has been guiding for 25 years, including many Smithsonian Journeys. David will be on the June 2012 departure. Betsy Robinson is a wildlife biologist, naturalist guide and teacher based in Bozeman, Montana. Steve Gehman has pursued a career that involves both intensive study of wildlife, and efforts to help others expand understanding and appreciation of wild animals and wild places. Betsy and Steve will be leading the September 2012 departure.
  • Hike through Yosemite Valley to view El Capitan, Half Dome, and Sentinel Peak, Yosemite’s signature granite formations.
  • Marvel as run-off plummets thousands of feet down the magnificent Yosemite and Bridalveil Falls.
  • Explore the awe-inspiring Mariposa Sequoia Grove, with its approximately 2,700 year-old “Grizzly Giant.”
  • Discover sub-alpine meadows, glacial lakes, and the awesome scarp of the Eastern Sierra.
