, also known as Rapa Nui
, measures just 14 miles long and seven miles wide and is located more than 1,200 miles from the nearest neighboring island. Settled by Polynesian explorers around A.D. 300, the volcanic island witnessed the development of a rich culture, completely isolated from outside influence for more than 1,000 years. Take a complimentary shuttle service ashore and explore its remarkable moai
statues, each carved to represent a deified ancestor. Lining the seashore and dotting the treeless landscape, the gigantic stone moai
create an unparalleled cultural landscape and distinguish their creators — the Rapa Nui people — not only as members of the Polynesian tradition of stone carving, but as master craftsmen and engineers. Multiple shore excursions are offered by Crystal Cruises at an additional cost. (B,L,D)January 14-15 — At Sea

(B,L,D each day)January 16 — Pitcairn Island, England
In 1789, Fletcher Christian led a mutiny of the HMS Bounty
, an English merchant ship on a voyage back to the motherland from Tahiti. To evade prosecution by the British Royal Navy, Christian and his followers settled on the most remote, uncharted island they could find, burning the ship so as to leave no trace of their whereabouts and establishing a unique fusion of Polynesian and European lifestyles with their Tahitian wives. To this day, the island remains extremely isolated, and the local residents — the descendants of Christian and his followers — depend on handicrafts, such as woodworking or weaving, for their livelihood. Enjoy the view of this utopian hiding place as Crystal Symphony
lies off Bounty Bay, and meet local residents as they visit the passengers onboard the ship. (No organized shore excursions are planned on Pitcairn Island.) (B,L,D)January 17 — At Sea

Multiple shore excursions are offered by Crystal Cruises at an additional cost. This evening, gather for the Captain's Farewell Reception. (B,L,D)January 19 — Tahiti, French Polynesia
The main island of French Polynesia, Tahiti is a dreamy oasis of fantastical coral reefs, translucent lagoons and breathtaking beaches. Once a gathering place where Tahitians would fill their calabashes with fresh water, the city of Papeete, which translates to “water basket,” is today a potpourri of European manner and carefree island ways. Crystal offers complimentary motor coach shuttle service to the town center of Papeete. Lay on the beach, wander the scenic waterfront boulevard, browse the open-air market or visit the city's incredible restaurants, boutiques and galleries.
