  • Imagine seeing—with your family—a hundred Thomson’s gazelles springing across a dirt road or majestic elephants leading their babies to a watering hole! Join us on our family safari and create memories to last a lifetime! Traveling in custom designed four-wheel drive Land Rover vehicles and accompanied by local guides, you’ll experience unbelievable wildlife viewing in Tanzania, the only place on earth where the “Big Five” all live in one place. Each day, head out to explore the back roads and dusty tracks of the African wilderness in search of new wildlife, landscapes, and experiences.

You’ll also travel off the beaten path to meet with local craftspeople and Maasai elders, and visit a local school where the kids can meet their pen pals. From Arusha, travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area to look for the “Big Five”—buffalo, elephant, leopard, the black-maned lion, and the endangered black rhinoceros. Then head to Serengeti National Park stopping at Olduvai Gorge for a VIP tour with an archaeologist. Spend five amazing days exploring the expansive Serengeti and an adjacent private nature refuge, looking for gazelle, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, and more. Plus, you’ll enjoy the perfect balance of luxury and sustainability at your private Nyumba camps (comfortable mobile-tented camps appointed with verandahs and private bathrooms). Take your family on an exceptional vacation this year—a family safari—for the thrill of a lifetime! This is an exciting safari for families with children ages 8 and older.
  • Special Highlights
  • Be amazed with unbelievable wildlife viewing. There is no greater wildlife experience in the world than Tanzania—a nation that devotes 33% of its land to conservation and boasts the highest concentration of animals anywhere on the planet. From the vast Serengeti to the lush rain forests of the Mahale Mountains, Tanzania is home to wildebeest, chimpanzee, zebra, hippopotamus, giraffe, hyena and cheetah—just to name a few! Tanzania is one of the only places on earth where the “Big Five”—buffalo, elephant, leopard, the black-maned lion, and the endangered black rhinoceros—all live in one place.
  • Take a private VIP tour at Olduvai Gorge. Go for a guided VIP-tour to get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the current digs. You’ll also have time to visit the small museum before having a picnic lunch.
  • Visit a private nature refuge. Enjoy walks and night drives in a private nature refuge, which is part of the Serengeti ecosystem.
  • Meet the Maasai people. Experience exclusive off-the-beaten path opportunities to meet and interact with the Maasai, both in their boma and at our camp. You’ll be warmly welcomed by these semi-nomadic people.
  • Peaceful, safe, and stable. Tanzania is a peaceful, safe country. A democracy since gaining independence in 1961, Tanzania is led by a president and national assembly elected by popular vote. While not a wealthy country, Tanzania is quite stable, and its people are committed to preserving its natural and cultural resources. Tanzania is referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa,” peacefully sustaining more than 120 different ethnic groups and free of the political upheaval present in some other African countries.
  • Settle in to private, custom-designed accommodations. Swahili for “home,” the Nyumba camps are the culmination of over 30 years of safari expertise and the signature style of accommodation for our safari. Nyumbas are canvas structures luxuriously appointed with handcrafted furnishings, sisal rugs, Maasai beading, fine linens and antique textiles. The spacious layout offers plenty of room and includes a spacious private verandah with comfortable seating and a writing table. Oversized, fine-mesh windows offer views of dramatic African vistas while allowing the fresh breeze in off the savannah. Private, comfortable en suite bathroom facilities include flush toilets and safari-style showers with plenty of hot water day or night.

Enjoy unparalleled yet unobtrusive access to the wildlife, spectacular views of the star-filled night sky, gourmet meals prepared from fresh local ingredients, and a sincere welcome from friendly, reliable staff at each camp. In short, it is the perfect balance of luxury, sustainability and immersion, a world away from civilization.
