Optional Extension to Edinburgh
The Edinburgh extension can be taken either as a post-voyage extension (July 29, August 6 and August 13, 2013 departures) or as a pre-voyage extension (August 20, 2013 departure).
EDINBURGH EXTENSION – 2 DAYS

Edinburgh, a lively city set in a landscape of hills, is Scotland’s capital. From the ancient castle and historic houses of the Royal Mile to the elegant Georgian terraces and crescents of the New Town, Edinburgh embodies much of Scotland’s history and culture. Day 9 - Disembark Lord Of The Glens, Inverness or Kyle Of Lochalsh, Edinburgh
Disembark Lord of the Glens and drive to Edinburgh with lunch en route and check in to the Caledonian Hilton, in the heart of Edinburgh. After check in, there’s free time to explore beautiful, dramatic Edinburgh. Its stunning Georgian and Victorian architecture and winding medieval streets can take you to both the city’s rich history and vibrant present. (B,L)
Day 10 - Edinburgh
Visit Edinburgh Castle, and view Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny — recently returned from London after 700 years. From the castle, stroll in the footsteps of Scottish royalty along the Royal Mile to St. Giles Cathedral, where reformer John Knox preached his fiery sermons. Also board the royal yacht Britannia, which took members of the Royal Family all over the world. The afternoon is free to rest or explore until this evening. Tonight experience the pageantry of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a spectacle of massed pipe and drum bands, Highland dancers, and fiddlers. (B)
