Overview
  • Unlike their bigger and better known counterparts, the Greek islands featured on this voyage offer an untouched serenity in regard to their architecture, culture, and charm. Each day will find you amid pristine vistas, from forgotten ancient ruins to hidden harbors and idyllic villages. Travel to the island of Limnos and its capital and port of Myrina, which was the site of a temple of Artemis in Classical times; here you'll visit the Byzantine castle and view superb artifacts at the archaeological museum. Also, explore two of the city's ancient sites, Hephaestia and Kabirion, both beautifully sited on the shores of a bay. Explore the whitewashed villages on the islands of Amorgos and Skopelos. Neoclassical mansions dot the harbor of Symi, and the volcanic island of Nisyros will inspire awe. In Chios, purported to be Homer’s birthplace, visit the 11th-century Nea Moni monastery, adorned with beautiful mosaics created by artists from Constantinople. On many evenings, you’ll enjoy free time in port to explore the shops and streets at leisure, and take in the authentic Greek ambiance.
