  • August Departure: Immerse yourselves in all things Beatles as Liverpool is transformed during International Beatleweek. From special guest speakers to live performances, enjoy the celebration that is The Beatles.
  • Liverpool: Meet people closely associated with the “Fab Four,” including Rory Best (brother of original drummer Pete Best) and Freda Kelly (former secretary to The Beatles). Take tours of John and Paul’s childhood homes, see Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields, and visit the Jacaranda Bar and the Casbah Club. Plus, take a curator-led tour of The Beatles Story, an award-winning exhibition devoted to the band, and enjoy an evening at the Cavern Club, the cradle of British pop.
  • London: Tour Abbey Road Studios, where The Beatles recorded some of their most famous albums. Take a panoramic tour of neighborhoods they loved, including where they lived, and pubs and clubs that inspired well- known lyrics. View collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum and a special exhibition at the Tate Modern that showcase the visual context of the ‘60s, plus see John Lennon’s manuscripts and notes with handwritten lyrics at the British Museum.

August 23-30, 2017 Itinerary

Day 1 — Depart the U.S.

Depart on individual flights to Manchester.

Day 2 — Liverpool

Arrive in Manchester and transfer by private coach from Manchester to Liverpool. Check in to the four-star Hard Day’s Night Hotel, the world’s only Beatles-inspired hotel. This evening, gather for a welcome reception and dinner where you will be joined by special guest Freda Kelly, former secretary to The Beatles. Day 3 — Liverpool

After breakfast, explore Liverpool through guided tours of John and Paul’s childhood homes, as well as Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. See the Jacaranda Bar, the café where The Beatles hung out when they were in school, and the Casbah Club, former home of Beatles original drummer, Pete Best. This visit will include an exclusive Q & A with Rory Best, Pete’s brother. In the evening, enjoy an event showcased in International Beatleweek. (Events for the 2017 Festival have not yet been announced, however tickets to at least two performances are included in the trip cost.) (B,L)

Day 4 — Liverpool

Enjoy a curator-led tour of the award-winning Beatles Story, which provides an unforgettable journey through the lives, times, culture, and music of The Beatles. Your experience at The Beatles Story will culminate with a special guest speaker. This afternoon enjoy another event featured in International Beatleweek. 

This evening, gather for Liverpool nightlife at The Cavern Club, the cradle of British pop music, and the venue where The Beatles began to form their identity. (B)

Day 5 — London

Spend the morning delighting in Beatleweek events on your own before your journey from Liverpool to London with a first-class train ticket. This evening, check into the four-star DoubleTree by Hilton Westminster and later gather at a local restaurant for dinner. (B,D)

Day 6 — London

This morning, embark on a guided tour of The Beatles’ London, highlighting ChelseaKensington Notting Hill GateSt. John’s WoodMarylebone and the West End. See the boutiques, pubs and clubs notable from that decade that inspired hundreds of well-known lyrics and pass by former and current homes of The Beatles. The tour culminates with a visit to Abbey Road Studios, where The Beatles recorded some of their most famous albums. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Victoria and Albert Museum to see their collection of sketchbooks and garments from the ‘60s as the entire Beatles-era comes into focus. Enjoy an evening at leisure in London. Day 7 — London

After breakfast, continue with the visual context of the ‘60s as you take in a special exhibition at the Tate Modern. See paintings by David Hockney, Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud, among others. Then visit the British Library and view John Lennon’s manuscripts, which in 2013 were donated to the library by Beatles biographer, Hunter Davies. In addition to manuscripts, the library also boasts notes and letters which contain handwritten lyrics and more. This evening, gather for a farewell dinner at a London restaurant as you toast the Fab Four and your journey. Day 8 — Depart for the U.S.

Take a private coach transfer to Heathrow for individual flights home. (B)
