Barbara Horlbeck

Barbara Horlbeck is an adjunct professor of art history, an independent researcher, and writer, with a specialty in non-Western art. She developed and teaches innovative virtual and face-to-face college-level art history courses, including Art of the Islamic World, Arts of Asia, Medieval Arts, and Ancient Arts. Founder of Arts and Influences, she gives lectures and seminars on a wide range of art historical and cultural topics. She has been a docent at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts for fifteen years, where she leads tours for educators and specialists as well as the general public. She has traveled in more than thirty countries, including the five continents and the North Pole, from Iran to India and Russia to Pakistan and China.

Dawn F. Rooney

Dawn F. Rooney, an art historian specializing in Southeast Asia, is the author of ten books on the art and culture of the region including two guides (Angkor, Cambodiaís Wondrous Khmer Temples, 6th edition, 2011) and (Sukhothai, Thailandís Cultural Heritage, 2008). Her latest publication is Ceramics of Seduction, Glazed Wares of Southeast Asia, 2013. Dr. Rooney was a scholar in residence at The Rockefeller Foundation Study Center, Bellagio, Italy, 2002. Her website was launched in 2004 with a grant from the James H.W. Thompson Foundation to make three decades of independent research available to the public (, including three of her books that can be downloaded in .pdf format. She is an advisor to the Society for Asian Art at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco and on the editorial board of The Oriental Society of Australia. Rooney writes for Asian art publications, is a guest lecturer on cruises and tours, and teaches at SOAS, University of London, in the Southeast Asia module of the Post-Diploma Course and at the Janapravaha Centre in Mumbai. She is an American residing in Bangkok and Seattle.
