Mary O'Neill is one of Smithsonian Journeys most popular experts. She is an accredited art appraiser who lectures regularly on all aspects of art history. Mary has joined several Smithsonian Journeys voyages, acting as our art expert in destinations from Mexico to Europe and the Middle East. She has published articles in several national publications, including Smithsonian Magazine's cover story for September 2001, Virtue and Beauty: The Renaissance Image of the Ideal Woman. In July 2015 she was our resident Art Expert at a week-long seminar at the Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York where she led thought-provoking discussions on the history of Art and Politics, from Ancient Athens to 20th Century Mexico.
