Cruise from Seattle to Ketchikan and experience Alaska’s spectacular Inside Passage. Here, you’ll explore Misty Fjords National Monument, with its steep valleys formed by glaciers and lava flows, and Saxman Village, featuring a fascinating collection of totem poles. Discover the towns of Wrangell, known for its Tlingit heritage and Gold Rush history, and Petersburg, a thriving fishing community of Norwegian heritage. Enter Frederick Sound, one of the world’s premier whale watching destinations, where over 500 humpback whales can congregate. And at Tracy Arm watch hundreds of waterfalls cascade from 1,500-foot-high cliffs. Concluding in Juneau, learn about the colorful Gold Rush and see nearby Mendenhall Glacier.

Itinerary
Day 1 — Seattle, WA

Meet fellow travelers and staff at a festive welcome reception at the hotel. Dinner and the remainder of the evening are on your own. (R)

Day 2 — Seattle, WA & Anacortes, WA
Explore the major coastal seaport of Seattle, WA on a narrated tour to indulge in the lively and diverse culture of the Emerald City with a sight of the tallest structure on the west coast - the Space Needle. Visit the oldest continually operating farmers’ market in the United States at Pike Place Market or stroll through downtown Seattle to taste fresh produce, traditional foods, and view displays of handmade arts and crafts while overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront. Take in the sights of the most photographed location in the state of Washington at Deception Pass State Park in Anacortes while enjoying the scenic shoreline, serene trails, and abundant wildlife from sunrise to sunset. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the town to get a personalized experience of the Pacific Northwest or take part in the SeaBear Salmon Tasting tour for an exclusive experience sampling cuisine varieties including smoked salmon, San Juan sliders, and smoked salmon chowder. Day 3 — Friday Harbor, WA
As you look out from the side of the ship, the majestic views of Friday Harbor is welcoming among the tranquil and charming seaport. Explore the diverse topography from pebble beaches to large mountains and lush valleys within the natural settings. Visit the Whale Museum to learn about the local orca pods and marine mammals with extensive displays of exhibits, artwork, models, and artifacts. Day 7: Ketchikan, AK
Located on the shores of the Alaska Inside Passage, the surrounding evergreen mountains emerge from the waters that are home to aquatic Alaskan wildlife. Participate in the Ketchikan Duck Tour to feel the energy of the “Salmon Capital of the World” as the boat motors down the channel for up close views of local fishing canneries, seaplane docks, and Ketchikan’s waterfront community. Travel by the salmon ladder on Ketchikan Creek to view the spawning floral grounds and live salmon among picturesque Whale Park and Creek Street. (B,L,D)

Day 8 — Wrangell, AK
Experience the petroglyph carvings as you enter the “Gateway to the Stikine River” to experience fresh flavors of salmon and halibut or locally grown fruits from the Tlingit Native culture. Visit the Wrangell Museum to see fascinating artifacts that represent the city’s rich and colorful past or browse through local shops to take home a small intricately carved totem pole. Take the opportunity to view the scenery of the Stikine River on the Jet Boat tour where sightings of large glaciers descending to the shores of the river and arching mountains extend to the sky. Day 9: Petersburg, AK
Located on Frederick Sound, Petersburg is a thriving fishing community with a strong Norwegian heritage. While looking out to the waterway, the sights of humpback whales are as breathtaking as the architecture and Norwegian toll-paintings that adorn the front of buildings along the seaport. Discover the rich heritage of this small fishing town during a guided walking tour that ends at the Clausen Museum which includes various collections of artifacts, photographs, and archives that provide a well-rounded overview of the town and surrounding area. Day 10 — Cruising through Frederick Sound


Day 11 — Tracy Arm, AK & South Sawyer Glacier
Cruise under Tracy Arm’s sheer, 1,500 foot high vertical cliffs and experience the awe and wonder of nature in its natural setting. Observe and admire seals in their habitats among small icebergs and witness an abundance of waterfalls cascading down the sides of the fjord. An onboard naturalist expert provides narration on the tranquil scenery and the mile wide, 20 stories high glacier just a short distance away from the ship. (B,L,D)

Day 12 — Juneau, AK
From watching humpback whales frolic in the cool waters of the Gulf of Alaska to experiencing the wonders of nature with breathtaking views of Mendenhall Glacier and its wildlife, Juneau is a unique port of call. Soar to new heights in an enclosed gondola tramway from downtown Juneau to the top of Mount Roberts. Embark on a guided tour through the city of Juneau to include information on the history of Juneau’s Gold Rush era and a stop at the 12 mile long, 1,000 feet deep Mendenhall Glacier. Concluding the tour, visit the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor’s Center to discover the mystery behind the geological phenomenon from an unobstructed vantage point. (B,L,D)

Day 13 — Juneau, AK
After breakfast, disembark the American Spirit and transfer to the Juneau International Airport for individual flights home. (B)
