Wayne Ranney

Geologist, Lecturer, and Author
Wayne Ranney is a popular and accomplished geologist, lecturer, and author. His work has taken him to such exotic assignments as Antarctica, Africa, Latin America, and the North and South Poles. He has been a leader for Smithsonian Journeys since 1993 and is an instructor of geology at Yavapai College in Sedona, Arizona. Wayne is the author of four books and numerous scientific and popular articles. His latest book, Carving the Grand Canyon, reflects his interest in how the world-famous canyons of the southwest may have formed.
