Stephanie Joynes is currently a Program Manager for Smithsonian Enterprises, but first arrived at the Institution in 2003 as a Cultural Information Specialist at the National Museum of the American Indian. She is a graduate of Syracuse University with a B.A. in English and Anthropology, and received a Masterís Degree in the Social Sciences from University of Chicago, where her thesis addressed ethical issues regarding Native American archaeological sites. Despite being a girl from a small town in Ohio, Stephanie studied abroad in London, England, and has worked at archaeological sites in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Tidewater Virginia. She also traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Egypt, Ecuador, and Costa Rica, but still easily gets lost in Washington, D.C. Her favorite travels include hiking in the Amazonian rainforest, snowmobiling in Yellowstone, and standing in the Great Pyramid of Giza, but parenthood has been a whole new adventure.
