Miles Hearn comes from a long tradition of involvement in the natural world. His love of nature began in childhood as a birder and wildflower enthusiast, and since then his interests have broadened into all areas of natural history. Miles is particularly interested in the variety of plants and birds from around the world which have become naturalized in North America. Each year he spends as much time as possible in the remote corners of north-eastern Ontario where he has run breeding bird surveys for the Canadian Wildlife Research Centre for over 30 years. This will be Miles' second year as Yorktown's onboard naturalist in the Great Lakes and Atlantic Canada.
