Michael J. Bustamante is a Ph.D. Candidate in Latin American and Caribbean History at Yale University, where his dissertation focuses on the politics of collective memory among Cubans on and off the island since 1959. He is the recipient of pre-prospectus and graduate fellowships fom the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami and has presented portions of his work at Casa de las Américas in Havana. His writings on Cuban and Latin American affairs have appeared in Foreign Affairs, Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, Current History, Milken Institute Review, as well as journals published in Spain, Brazil, and Cuba. From 2006-2009, he served as Research Associate for Latin America Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Yale College (2006).
